Middle School Camp

Middle School Camp

Playing, learning, and bonding; growing spiritually, growing as friends and growing as leaders—these are just a few of the exciting things that happen in September each year during the highly anticipated Middle School Camp. In the early weeks of school, middle school students and teachers, along with former GHC graduates and now high school mentors, head to Grace Adventures Camp in Silver Lake. This time together is pivotal for laying important groundwork for the upcoming year. One student took the time to reflect on his time there:

Middle school camp is one of my favorite events during the school year. It is always so much fun and has helped me grow in my faith. I liked it, especially when we went on nature walks or waded in the lake. Camp let us see and enjoy God’s beautiful creation. Middle school camp also helped me to grow closer to my friends and classmates. We enjoyed fun, late-night games, s’mores, daytime activities, and free-time. I also liked hanging out with our high school counselors. They were very fun, while at the same time setting a good example for us. The part that I liked most was when we stayed up late at night and just talked about life, God, and school. We tried to stay up as late as we could together, until we weren’t sure if we had just said something, or dreamed it. Overall, middle school camp brought me closer to God, and closer to my friends. I think that it is very important that the middle schoolers to come get to experience the same stuff that me and my classmates have experienced.
