Hispanic Heritage Festival

On Saturday, September 28th, eighteen 1st-3rd graders in the Spanish Immersion Program had the opportunity to perform at the first annual Grand Haven Hispanic Heritage Fiesta en el Parque. The students sang “De Colores”, taught to them by Mrs. Becksvoort, danced the traditional Mexican dance “La Raspa”, and waved the flags of Latin American countries as they danced to the pop song “La Gozadera”. Individual students also recited, in Spanish, the GHC theme Bible verse of the year, Proverbs 3:5-6, along with Psalm 23. We are proud of the hard work and dedication of these students to study, learn, and embrace traditions from Latin America. An invitation has already been issued for their return next year!
